Ticket System

Katharine was cracking me up today - she really likes to wear socks and shoes. She always wants us to help her put on her socks and shoes, but today she was exploring with a bit of independence and she was putting her socks on by herself...

But she only wanted to put the socks on her right foot. If I tried to put on eon her left foot, she moaned at me.

She would NOT let me put them on her left foot. So I let her have her way, and she wasn't able to wear her shoes, but she didn't care. Back inside, taking on and off all the socks again, all on the right foot.

Three socks done... just one more!

Perfect! It was adorable and funny.

It's fun seeing their independence grow, even if they are doing it wrong. You go K. You wear 4 socks on one foot. Don't listen to the haters.

Corey and I took a date night ride up Parleys Point again this evening.

This time we went via Cannon trailhead. It was pretty to be above the city!

We went 7.32 miles, took 1 hour 14 minutes. We also went bouldering this morning together at 6:30 am, go us for being so active and healthy. I only had 30 min before I had to head home so I could come back out to drop off carpool, so I just did 14 but it was good cause I got some V3s and one V4, it's the only V4 I've ever done. I also did 2 min 5 seconds of this swimmer one and done. I'm attempting to learn more about calisthenics. I was picking up another book at the library yesterday and searched for any on calisthenics and saw this one by Mark Lauren so put it on hold, googled him while I waited for Owen at soccer practice yesterday, and tada, another step in that direction for me.

Joseph is out in Ohio visiting "The Ohio State". A doctor in our ward told me it's not "Ohio State" - it's "The Ohio State" which is kinda weird I think, but I feel obligated to say "The Ohio State" since I have now been taught that. I don't want to mess it up or offend any Buckeyes who might be listening. Joseph is still on the waitlist for med school at the U, but he thinks he is probably going to go to Ohio, so that's exciting!

A few notes on chores - Daniel finished his checklist and earned a party with his siblings - playing the Wii and having ice cream, but then I got a call from one of his friend's mom who let me know that Daniel announced to his entire school class that he was having a party and that they were all invited to come over today after school. When he got home, I asked him if this was correct? The slightly guilty looks told me it was.

Thankfully most of the kids said they couldn't come, probably knowing that they can't make plans like that for themselves without the ok from their mom or dad. I was glad that Claire's mom called me to let me know what had happened at school. I was also glad that no one showed up. We'll probably have Claire over for a playdate though. Daniel also did something in Texas that I just found out about today - while we were in Texas, $200 cash (four $50s) went missing from my bedroom. We found one of them laying around, I found one others, but there was still $100 missing. Stephanie texted me that one of her boys had it, that Daniel gave it to them but they were too scared to tell us when we were confronting them last week. So Grant Venmo'd that to me, and I had a talk with Daniel. Lily also earned $50 babysitting this past week, and that went missing, and Daniel quickly came up and gave it back to her. He saw it laying on the hutch and couldn't help himself and took it. I'm glad he's confessing quickly. We'll try to not give him to many moments of temptation!

Also speaking of Texas, todaoy I went by Winco to find groats so I can make Groatmeal like Stephanie made for us there.

While I was at Winco, I also bought some cereal: 2 bags each of honey nut toasted O's, honey almond blenders, and lucky charms. After coming home to a home that felt messy, I accept again that the home is really my arena. If I want it clean, I've got to do it. No one is coming to save me. No one is coming to do it for me. This is my job. So I'm done with the checklist, I didn't quite feel like I got the bang for the buck, although Owen did pretty good but the work was about that which is to be expected from a 3rd grader. Still I didn't feel like the work was quite worth the pay I was giving. I'm thinking I'll have the kids work for cereal. They can buy cereal with 3 tickets. I have a big roll of tickets from Zurchers that has been here kicking around, so we're going to try that for a bit.
