Seth Homecoming

Our nephew Seth recently returned home from serving a mission for Jesus Christ in Chile. We went up to Layton today to attend their ward and listen to his homecoming message at church. I'm actually blogging this in November 2025, so I can't remember what he said. But I'm sure he said that the work is true (and it is!) After church, we went by their home to visit and enjoy some completos!

Sitting in the shade on the hammocks and the chair swings, shooting the breeze...
We ate, visited, and spent time watching random things on different people's phones.
Katharine walking outside to the car. She was humming a song. Like she wears on many Sundays, today she wore her Elsa nightgown to church, with her new Elsa sneakers.

We let things like that slide. We are permissive with a lot with Katharine, cause she's just so cute. Babies and toddlers are always cute, so I guess the real reason we're like "it's fine" and "What Katharine wants, Katharine gets!" is because we are in grandparent mode now!

Tonight, like on most nights, when it is time for the bedtime routine, I will help the boys floss and brush and then Peter will say "Mom! Remember! Sunday music and help say prayer." Then I help him say another prayer, we pray for Wesley and for Peter to have good dreams, and then I connect my phone to the Bluetooth stereo in their room and turn on a Primary Playlist for them. Peter likes me to always start with Flying by Cody Fry. I put the songs on shuffle and on repeat wouldn't be able to sleep to it, but Peter likes it. Owen tolerates it, Daniel doesn't seem to mind, but he'd prefer the ocean waves sound over music. Sometimes we do the ocean waves instead of the Primary songs. It's a good thing to have those tunes and music in their room at night. I do think it helps keep bad spirits at bay, which is a take away that Corey and I both got from reading the book "My Descent Into Death" by Howard Storm. The part about singing Corey mentioned a little bit in a talk he gave in February. That is also one thing that we try to do to help Sunday's feel different. We have church music playing on the Bose in the mornings. We listened to music on the drive up to Layton today. I'm grateful for the songs of Zion!
