Frustrated

I've been a little frustrated/in a funk. My children make a mess and chaos everywhere they go. I kinda hate our small toilet areas. If we ever custom build a house, the bathrooms are going to have drains in the floor, so I can splash it down with soap and water and don't have to mop it up, I'll just squigy it into the drain on the floor. Thanks to Brazil for teaching me that this is the true way to clean toilets. The toilets are also going to have space around them so that IF I ever have a garbage can behind it, I can reach it from the side and don't have to risk my hair touching the toilet as I reach behind the toilet to pick up the toilet paper that my children don't get in the garbage can that forms a gross little pile of gross tissue with gross moist germy stuff all over it. I took a photo of a mess like that, but I won't post it here. I guess I just took the pic to remind me of this gross moment.

I thought  was thinking of going on a ride to try and cure my funk, esp cause it's gong to be too cold tomorrow, but I didn't go. I decided I didn't want to spend an hour and a half biking, and that's ok cause I doubled up yesterday with swimming after the temple and then a quick upper body workout with Abi last night.

Today I was helping Hyrum get some gloves and neck warmers for a hike with friends that I thought might get cold (it wasn't) so he took stuff for everyone in his backpack but didn't use it. When I was helping Hyrum get those, I discovered that the kids made a mess in the basement, with two coats bins in a pile with a bin of thermals and I want to rage.

I had my hunches, and it was confirmed: Owen was the guilty party. (Good to know that he has some faults.) He helped me pick it up but I'll need to re-do it cause all the coats don't fit. I had to really shove them in there when I organized it a few weeks ago. Ugh, maybe we have too many coats. I need to get rid of all this stuff. Too. much. stuff. I also might be in a funk cause I'm sick? Maybe that's why I didn't want to do a ride. Low on energy and I've had a little bit of a sore throat tonight. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be handing out bread... Yesterday I gifted 1 reg and 3 mini loaves of bread. It's fun to share. I took one reg to a new friend Lacey that Kathy O and I were going to go visit for RS, Kathy ended up not coming cause she was sick. I also gifted three mini loaves this evening to Debbie G, Debbie W, Kathy O.

So Hyrum went on a hike with some friends, including a girl he's slightly interested in. He was talking me to me last night and today about his girl stresses and trying to read the signs and non-verbal communication. Then he told me and Abi of all the reasons that he's a total catch - he's got a 4.0, currently has three internship offers, he can almost bench 225lbs (and believes that he will be the first in his bloodline to achieve such a feat) etc etc...

AND (and I think this is cool) he's been transcribing the Book of Mormon by hand, writing it all out. He's 2 years into this little project and is currently in Helaman. If he continues at his current pace, he thinks he'll finish next February. He's learned a lot and is planning to write a little something about the insights he's had about the Book of Mormon and Oliver Cowdry and Joseph Smith from doing this. Hyrum's been frustrated too. Last night Hyrum took this pic - he's tired of sourdough. The syrup just happened to be on the counter and he considered it for a moment (we are out of spaghetti sauce)

I was able to do a Costco run for food today cause Corey stayed home for me to have his car. He took carpool this morning, then went swimming, came back home to clean up and read his scriptures,  ate breakfast for what seemed like a long time, I left with his car to go to Costco and to Hobby Lobby for art stuff (giving myself an early birthday present) and Walmart for cilantro light bulbs and socks, roast beef and sardines. Yes, sardines, inspired by the video we watched last Thursday. It is the first time I've ever bought those! They have them for sale, I've never noticed them before. I went to Hobby Lobby and Walmart first, then to Costco where I got spaghetti sauce, three 25 bags of flour, and more sardines! They have them at Costco too! wow. We tried them with sourdough and they weren't bad, just seemed like an oily can of dark tuna. All I've had in my brain about sardines until now is that "sardines are super gross." I don't know why Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs gives them such a bad rep! So today we both tried sardines for the first time ever and our opinion - not bad, especially not as bad as I was afraid they'd be (with bones and eyes). I'm sure I'll document it here if either of us ends up doing a sardine fast.

Eliza gave me a call when we were driving to Walmart. Katharine talked with Mary while I pushed her in the shopping cart. Eliza sent us some pictures of Mary - she's always so smiley!

She is turning a year old in 11 days!

Mary, where did the time go?? It's the circle of life. Before we know it she'll be a senior in high school going to prom. K had two friends come over after we got back from Costco, Becca and Scarlett. They are cute girls, but having two friends over did throw things off slightly and they all spent a moment sulking at different times over different things. That's never happened when they are just two. Abi answered to prom tonight - made a poster with a Hi-Chew saying.

Abi was making that while Hyrum was bragging on himself. She's also in the middle of Senior Assassin right now.
