Archibald's

We had a great date night last night. We had a new experience going to a new place ~ Archibald's. At Gardner Village. A few things that made this date particularly great:
1~ The restaurant was not crowded, no wait time (like our other favorite restaurant that we frequent, India House, love it)

2~ Beautiful surroundings outside - a little creek, pretty flowers, little pioneer homes. We need to go back when the shops are open. We got there at 8 when they were closing.
3~ History - Archibald's is named after Archibald Gardner, the man who owned the property/farm/mill there back in the old pioneer days. We ate our dinner in a little round room which was the big cement mill of his farm. There seemed to be a both for each of his wives (he had 11, 48 kids, 207 grandkids!!) So the wall by each booth seemed to have a wife highlighted there. We sat in the booth of the third wife, Mary Ann Bradford. As we looked around, Corey noticed and pointed out to me that the sign said she was the daughter of his 2nd wife. So before we could order our meal, we had to ask our waiter about it, to make sure it was his step-daughter, not his daughter. Daughter would be way weird. Step-daughter, a little less weird, but I confess I don't understand much about the whole polygamy thing.
4~ Menu - Almost always when we go out, if there is salmon on the menu, I order the salmon. But here, they had three salmon dishes!!! (Must be a restaurant that caters to women who come to lunch with their girlfriends?) And there were several other things that looked good too and I almost couldn't decide! Which usually doesn't happen to me. So that was a new experience too!

Great conversation - Corey gave me all the details of his week, which I loved. Our typical work week consists of him at work and we don't talk almost at all during the day, cause he's swamped in meetings and I'm drowning here and then he gets home and gets attacked by kids. So it was so nice to go out, just the two of us, and TALK!! Ah, the simple pleasures in life! It's fun for me to try to remember and keep track of all the people he talks to and networks with.
Anyway, it was just a perfect date night. We'll be going back to Archibald's again soon (cause I forgot to use the coupon!) and I want to go look in the quilt shop. :)
