Wesley called tonight! His p-days at the Mexico MTC will be on Saturdays, yay. It was great to see him! Peter was especially happy -
I tried to wake her to smile at Wes, but she was a bit dazed and so wasn't much of a conversationalist. I think I'll blog a little bit more about Katharine today - here she is playing on Wednesday morning Jan 31. She woke up as Abi was getting ready for school. When I first walked in, Katharine was sitting on Abi's lap and they were both putting on makeup.
That warmed my heart.
After Abi was all ready, she left K to finish up herself by herself.
Wow, Katharine! You look really good!
We are one week post room rearranging and things are pretty much fixed up! I don't think we've ever been in order this quickly after rearranging things. My favorite part of the new room arrangements is Katharine's little kitchen area.
She's got a little table to do all her work at, and books and toys at her disposal. I am hoping to put all the toys upstairs and get them out of the basement, except for legos. I'll put them up high on the shelf so she can't get at all of them at one, to try and keep some control. I might need to get rid of toys, but instead this past Wed I bought more... when I was supposed to be looking for wedding clothes at Kid to Kid on Wednesday night, I ended up buying Katharine this gum ball toy. I say I want to get rid of stuff, but my actions show that I want more, especially toys with lots of small parts! It was cute to see her playing with it and concentrating. It has a little star dial that you turn and it will let out a wood gumball.
When I saw it I thought it would be a good toy to keep K busy when I needed a distraction for her so I could get something done. I got it Wednesday, and gave it to her Friday, cause I needed a distraction. It worked pretty well, other than when she gets all the balls out, I have to help her put them back in.
Unfortunately, she likes pretty much anything with small chokeable pieces. Isnt' that right, K?
So there's some stuff about Katharine today and this past week. What else is going on... Last night Corey and I went to see the Chosen in theaters! Season 4 episodes 1, 2 and 3. It was a little much to be in the theater that long, but the show was good and we're excited for the kids to see it. We're also happy to financially support the Chosen. We think it's great. I love feasting on the gospel. We listen to podcasts when we go climbing and usually catch every Follow Him episode. Corey usually gets Unshaken too as he rides the stationary bike. I love reading the Book of Mormon. I loved this part on the Follow Him Podcast this week with Tyler Griffin where they quoted Dan Peterson (Part 1 at 54:30)
"Our friend Dan Peterson, he said this about Nahom. He says, "The finding of Nahum strikes me as a tremendously significant discovery. To find it in the right location for the right time is a bullseye from the book." He says, "The idea that Joseph Smith was really well-versed on pre-Islamic Arabian geography seems to me to be so ludicrous as to be beyond belief."
But outside of all the geographical stuff that I find so fun (Del Dowdell's blog!) the real great part about the Book of Mormon is the strong witness of Jesus Christ that it gives, which in turns gives me such peace in my life. I know it does that for everyone who makes a serious study of it. Try it out!
