Elsa Braid

For me it was another sweet day home with Katharine, and another day playing legos. K was wearing her red Elana of Avalor dress earlier, until she had a potty accident (which don't happen too often). Something funny was that she pulled the straps of the dress down over her shoulders and then said kinda sheepishly "I'm Belle...." haha. After a bath, she put on her Elsa dress/pjs and then said she wanted her hair in an Elsa braid. Her hair is too short for an Elsa braid, but then I had a thought - what if I use some of Natalie's ribbons... I got 9 of them from her shoe box, tied them with an elastic, put them in K's hair, and voilà! An Elsa braid!

Katharine! You look just like Elsa on your dress! Haha, pretty fun. K felt very pretty all day with her long Elsa braid.
After a few hours doing that, Hyrum tagged me out and played legos with Katharine for a bit -
I listened to them play and was laughing... Lego Ariel got torn apart by the dragon and was dead, then K put her back together... Hyrum's lego princess Auroroa asked "Are you ok?" Lego Ariel sighs with a slight groan "Ahhh yeah... I'm just a little sick... I need to go take a rest" Yeah, if you get eaten by a dragon and torn limb from limb, you might feel a little sick. Just go take a rest and you'll feel better. And then they were able to get to the really important matters... Katharine asked "Which color dress do you want?" Hyrum in a high voice "I'll do the purple dress..." haha. I like hearing H play with her. Hyrum got relieved when Peter got home from school. Around that time I was able to sneak out for a ride up the quarry trail. Fall colors are here!
I got back at 4:30, then I got ready and we went out to eat with H at 5.
This was a belated birthday dinner date. We took him out to eat at Bandits (H had never been there before). I got my usual Farmer's Harvest Salad with an added skewer of shrimp, Hyrum got the steak salad, and Corey got the red trout, and we had a nice dinner.
We went somewhere close cause Mel and Christian were coming over. Mel texted us a few weeks ago about doing a dutch oven peach cobbler today in the mountains at 6. They knew they were going to be here this weekend (they are both staying here tonight) because Christian is running the Big Cottonwood Marathon tomorrow morning. Mel saw that we were on a date though, so told us to text when we were on our way home. They were at Brighton High for Christian's sister's soccer game. We took a vote from the kids, and majority voted for a cobbler in the kitchen oven instead of in the mountains. The kids had never had it before and it was a hit! They set up the table outside and we ate it on the backyard patio.
Topped with vanilla ice cream. Wayne came and joined us.
I was the first to share with the kids this morning that they have caught the killer of Charlie Kirk. So so sad that this whole thing has happened, but I'm grateful he's caught. It's been on everyone's mind and a main topic of discussion at school and at home since it happened on Wednesday.
