Park City Begins

We are approaching the end of summer break, which means we are once again up at Park City with Corey's family. Children, resume your positions!

Yes, there they are living their best lives, lol. This was tonight, sitting on the couch watching some funny Daily Dose videos. When I was a kid and we'd watch American's Funniest Videos together on Sunday evenings. Good times. They aren't laughing in that pic, but we were all laughing.

So day 1 is done. We were ON TIME this year for probably the first time ever! We got here at 3:50, right before the 4pm check in, which meant that we had to wait a bit cause no one was checked in yet, but there were a lot of people trying to check in. Wayne also got here at 3:50 and I walked in with him. We had 5 units, Wayne got his unit first, then they checked in Ethan and Bella and us, so we got to get into the garage and start to unload all our stuff. Potato Bar dinner was at 6, kids explored and played some board games at the Mine, and they are looking forward to swimming tomorrow. Two things I brought up this year that are new: the card game Flip 7 and a Dowdle "Park City Summer" puzzle. Natalie is a puzzle queen and she got it out and did the bulk of it tonight, then Wesley, who is also a puzzle master, came in and finished it up. It was too easy for him.
Oh, from those this photos above, you may have noticed that Wesley shaved his head. Yesterday he shared an AI photo of him buzzed and his siblings replied "AI!" with a "You can't fool us" tone, and then when I went to pick him up at the airport (coming back from Moscow Idaho), I saw that his hair was actually buzzed! He said it's been on his bucket list for a while, so might as well do it. He also let his FSY kids do it cause it was his last week of FSY and cause they all memorized their company verse of scriptures. He does not plan to do it again. He feels fine and normal when he's walking around, but jump scares himself a bit each time he sees his reflection. The past day, when Corey walks past him, he'll pause, look at him, then stick out his hand to shake his as he says "Thank you for your service." haha.

We usually bring a LOT of stuff up here, but I think  we have less stuff than previous years. I was more organized with all the food too. I guess something that helps with that is that the married kids have taken both of our dinner nights, yay. I got the food for our family's assignments for the potato bar tonight, the bbq friday, and the Saturday brunch. And stuff for our breakfasts and lunches. I made 8 loaves of sourdough yesterday and today. Yesterday, I left Lily in charge of cooking the bread while I went to pick up Wes at the airport and then to the SL Costco and got the stuff we'd need for Park City this week.
(I guessed $550, Wes guessed $600+, it was $670 bucks, so he won.) When I got back, I saw that the oven was still on and cooking (the 4 loaves I had left for her should have been finished by then) and the two loaves that were out of the oven were overdone/burnt. That was a little sad, though I guess I've burnt sourdough before too, so I shouldn't point fingers. Last night I had to take a quick break, cause after the burnt break, I also saw that Natalie shot a nerf gun bullet at the light switch in the front room and broke it, ugh, and the straw that broke my back was the freaking washer and dryer that were driving me NUTS, so I went for a walk to the mountains to breath. I told everyone to just bring up their dirty laundry instead of trying to wash the stuff before they pack, cause it will take less time to wash it up here, since the washer and dryer up here actually WORK. So, this has been my one of my many nemesis' this past year. The washer will do a "Ub" code several times a day when it tries to spin, which means "unbalanced". I'm really starting to hate it, cause if I don't catch it (like I didn't when I was picking up Wes and at Costco) then it will repeat the rinse and spin cycle several times, so you'll go up thinking the wash is done but it's still going, so then I'll stop it and just do the "spin" which should be a 21 minute cycle, but at minute 18 it usually freaks out and does a big thunder sounding rattle that shakes throughout the house and will flash "Ub" and I have to run up and catch it before it tries to fill up with water and repeat the whole stupid process again. Anyway, it's stupid. And the Dryer is doing the 3C code (going on 2 years with that...) but right now it does have heat if I press start, it just won't turn off, so a times 60 min cycle will go all night if I don't stop it myself. I'm hoping we don't get a housefire from using faulty appliances. Ok, sorry for that tangent. I said that cause I'm excited to wash and dry up here at Park City with a washer and dryer that actually work and will finish the job promptly!

This morning at church, Abi did her LAST musical number at church, which she's grateful to finally check off. Maybe she'll play for people in Panama, but Utah ward musical numbers are done for a while.
The past few days of Home MTC have gone well. She'll be continuing Home MTC up here this week. It helps that she has her own lock off unit, 7340. Yesterday - Corey helping her with Spanish for an hour, explaining verb conjugations -
We ordered her the red Spanish Verb book that we both got at the MTC as missionaries. Then she and I went shoe shopping at several stores but didn't find what she needed (closed toed KEEN sandals, we're ordering them online instead) and then Corey took her to Tara's so she could go with Tara to a wedding reception for their seminary teacher. After this week at Park City, we'll come home Saturday and try to quickly get this place presentable before Sunday, when she is having giving farewell remarks at church and then people will probably come over for visiting and some food. I didn't buy food for that today - we'll take care of that crisis this weekend. While I gone shopping for PC food yesterday, Corey made an AI of Kat the ballerina.

Which (yes) he also turned into a coloring page. Becoming a prima ballerina doesn't happen that quickly in real life, but hopefully this counterfeit AI won't make her think she's already achieved her dreams. You still have work to do, Kat!
