So Ethan and Mel went down and were there at 9:15. Eth had to be there as part of his SBO responsibilities to hand out programs. Corey and I left around 9:30 to take Gabriel to the airport. After that we hurried to the Hunstman Center. We were a little late and had trouble finding a parking spot, but we made it inside right at the end of the processional, sweet!
It took a while to find Mel, but I finally spotted her, 4th row up from the back on the right side, 5th person in. We sat by my parents, Corey's parents were in front of us. Peter was the only kid that came to support Mel.Oh wait, that's not true. Ethan was there too. He came and sat by us after his friends left and his job was done. A job that he took very seriously - making sure that only one program be given to each family. And he said some people had no respect for him or that rule and were plain rude. Then he was shocked to see his own grandfather Wayne with like 7 programs!! Gotta watch out for those shady grandpas! It was funny. Ethan also went to an awards thing last night for the 2019 class. He said they are a seriously smart group, like a ton of them got 36 ACT scores and 4.0 GPAs. He said that last night if someone was announced as just having a 35 ACT score or something, he like jokingly shook his head in shame and disgust. "You should be ashamed of yourself! How do you sleep at night...." Eth is a funny kid. I showed him where Mel was - with my eagle eyes. I was glad we spotted her, so we were able to tell when she was about to be announced.
Yay Mel! It took us forever to find her after the ceremony was over and people went outside. As Corey said.... "Well, she doesn't have her cell phone, and she's short... So I think we're out of luck." Ethan went out to scout for her and brought her to us. Yay
Corey has a few more pictures on his phone of Mel with her grandparents and with us. I'll update with those later.
She let Peter try on the cap - he's wearing Skyline colors, you look good Pete!
Afterwards we went out to eat with Corey's parents at Brio at City Creek.
Another kid done - 2 down and 10 to go!! Oh boy, we got a long road ahead of us.
With the proud parents
And proud grandparents...Congrats Grad!
One more cute pick - yesterday was Mel's last day of school. They had a graduation rehearsal at school, signed yearbooks at a Seminary breakfast, and Mel got to snuggle a cute kitten -
She looks like she's in her happy place - babies and kittens make this girl smile.
