She made the poster to advertise it - isn't it cute?!
She did a few numbers -
And then a special guest Abigail performed a piece.
Corey trying to record and hoping K is quiet!
Performing a piece with her friend Ariel. They have traveled to Europe together and have been roommates for a few years too.
And probably the highlight of the evening was this piece called "Black Folks" by Claude Bolling. I got a video recording of it. Such a fun number!
Then Mel did one more piece - they made a great jazz ensemble.
Enjoying a few refreshments after her recital.
So that was great. Corey's dad came and my mom came down for it too. Ethan and Bella were there. Our family made up a good portion of the audience, and a lot of her friends were there too.
Before we went down for that, I had a good Saturday here at home. The day started off nicely by me being able to read my scriptures while I enjoyed some groatmeal! I added extra cinnamon, apples, raisins and walnuts to mine.
In Texas, Stephanie made some delicious oatmeal with oat groats, which I don't think I've ever heard of before. She cooked them with her Instapot on the slow cooker setting, a recipe with chia seeds, applesauce, maple syrup and oatmilk. Yesterday I went to WinCo, which is where she said she bought her oat groats when they lived here in UT. I looked in the bulk foods place but there was nothing there. I asked an employee, he said there was one bag in the back, yahoo. So we had Groatmeal this morning! She sent me the recipe over text, but it looks very similar to this. Even Natalie ate it and liked it! She added blueberrie and bananas to hers -
I'm excited to have a little more time to myself on the mornings when I cook it this way and it's already ready to go when I wake up. I am currently making progress in other areas too - I have cleaned our bedroom. Hooray.
