Hyrum in Iceland

Hyrum is in Iceland. 

He is seeing a new land and some of it's cool and awesome stuff.

Iceland has been a place he's wanted to go ever since he saw The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I probably saw the movie at the same time as him (hey look at this, I did, Sept 2020) and I thought it was a fun show, but Iceland having anything to do with didn't register in my head. But Hyrum was an impressionable 17 year old, and the country of Iceland landed in his head and found a new home. He's finally living out his dream. Corey wanted to inspire them, and it worked! Look at Hyrum, he's up and doing.

Hyrum sent out an ad on his instagram months ago, Ernest Shackleton style, inviting other brave men to join him. His cousin Isaac was the only one who answered the advert. 

All of his other loser friends have girlfriends or maybe they're broke, some other blah blah blah reasons why they weren't able to go. Their loss!

Hyrum and Isaac are both single and free. 

It is a land of many waterfalls and much wind.

I think this pic was of them at a Catholic church. I thought Hyrum looked cute. It's the new profile pic I have of him. 

So yeah he's having a cool experience. They left last Tuesday (?) and will be arriving back home on Friday. Here's a video he shared yesterday - they went to the pin location of a scene from "The Dark Knight" Batman movie.

Good job Hyrum for getting out there and having an adventure. I like to have adventures sometimes... I did a road trip to Texas to see the eclipse. I guess I need to have a justified reason that makes the hassle worth it. Otherwise I'd say I'm kinda a home body and am more that happy to stay home. I was fine home this past weekend of "fall break". But Corey mentioned going to Moab, and I thought we were going to do that during fall break, aka Friday and Saturday, but then recently found out he did in face book two nights in Moab a while ago, but booked them for Sunday and Monday night. He was going to cancel them, but then didn't cancel by the due date, so now we're going to go and make the best of it. The older kids still have two more days off of school, Mon & Tues, but Daniel and Peter DO have school staring tomorrow, but I guess they're just going to miss it, cause I am now going with SNODPK to Moab. Corey is planning to come tomorrow, cause he scheduled a work demo for tomorrow (hmmm, that is convenient... like "hurting your knee" before Disneyland, hmm? Yeah yeah I get it - Corey makes all these plans for us all to do and then gets out of them last minute and makes me go alone! Just kidding, kinda. The demo was supposed to be last Wednesday but the guy had to push it forward. Anyway, so the kids are packing and I'm going to drive down in the van (I hate the van) with the kids, and we'll go on a hike or something, and Corey will come down after the demo and we'll try to go ride Slickrock for our first time. Our other "first time" didn't count cause we didn't actually do it, we were newbie riders back then. K I better go gather my stuff, we're going to try and get some miles in before sunset. I actually am going to pack light this time, we're just going for two nights, basically one day. Corey's going to bring the biking stuff tomorrow so I'm just getting a few things, I'll bring along this laptop computer. See you in Moab.
