Last night we had a late night. Corey's mom wasn't doing well at the rehabilitation center, and they took her to the ER, and things are not looking good.
I don't think I've even recorded here yet what is going on... So, she broke her arm just over three weeks ago, when we were headed back to the cars as we left the Bountiful Temple after our nephew's endowment on May 26. Well, she didn't know it was broken at first, but on Monday May 29, after not being able to sleep for 3 nights because of the pain, she went in to the hospital to get it looked at. And it was broken. She was at the hospital for a bit and then they moved her to a rehab center in Holladay. I only was able to get over to visit her there once, and boy was it bruised! She was in good spirits for the first week or so, but then she started to have really bad lab numbers, and her pain meds weren't working but she was anxious to get out of there but she was getting a bad infection, and just everything was going wrong. This past Saturday (June 17) things were really bad. Corey spent most of the day there, and was keeping us all informed as to what was going on. He checked his phone at one point and saw on Life 360 that Melodie was walking down the street to the rehab center. She took frontrunner and the bus up, he was so happy that she did that and came up, cause he was feeling like any moment might be her last. Later Saturday afternoon, Nancy texted Corey to see if he could go take another turn being with her, Nancy was really struggling to stay there and see her like that... but Corey was out taking a break and spending time with the kids at he bike park, but I was at home with a few kids. So I went by with Wes, Lily, and Katharine (again this was this past Sat 6/17) and sweet JeNeal really did seem to be out of it. One of JeNeal's complaints a few weeks ago was that the rehab center staff treated her like she was crazy, and she felt like it was making her be crazy, but when I saw her she really did seem not like herself, there was something really wrong. So it got worse Sunday and today and she was having seizures! Corey saw her have one this morning and thought she was dying in front of him. She got stiff and tense and in her convulsions even ripped off her skin from the top of her hand as she twitched in the seizure. Corey and his siblings decided she needed to go to the ER fast, and they were there for a few hours and Corey called and said it would be good to go down, cause it might be the end. That's where we met them last night. Everyone was there at St. Marks. Corey talked to the kids before we went in and everyone was crying. Good news is that she is still alive as of this morning, and things are looking better than yesterday, but last night it was grim. The kids went in two or three at a time to see her and talk to her (she was unconscious with a trachea helping her breathe) and it was quite tender for everyone. Today, Daniel drew this picture, trying to cope with the situation as best as a sweet little 6 year old can. I thought that picture was precious, and we talked about Grandma, and death, and all the deep hard stuff of life. We don't know what will happen and we're praying for the best for her, Wayne, and for Corey and his siblings.
