Trunk or Treat

This past Sunday, we attended my parent's ward to hear them speak in sacrament meeting. During the announcements, it was mentioned that there would be a Trunk or Treat on Thursday. Their stake is lacking on little ones, I thought it would be fun to go support the Butler West Stake with our numbers. So tonight, we did.

It was nice and easy and the kids got a few treats and hot coco. Even I dressed up.
I guess I'm really feeling the Halloween Spirit.

Peter givin' a "Yee Haw!"

Sophi stayed home from the trunk or treat so that she could clean and complete tasks, in an attempt to sweet talk us into letting her have a sleepover tomorrow night. Hmm... we talked about it tonight after we got back, and we're going to let her, but from here on out, before she asks, she needs to have a 4.0, cause it's totally possible for her to get a 4.0, it's just helping them find the incentive! And now I think we found it. She made a Ninja turtle shell with her friends and they are all wearing those tomorrow.

Yesterday I did a good job blogging while K watched Elena of Avalor (that is a stupid show). Unfortunately the Elena theme song was stuck in my head while Corey and I went on a ride in Corner Canyon. I had my headphones, but didn't listen on the climb, cause Corey's airpods weren't working. I charged them, but the left ear bud doesn't work if he sneezes, and thus it wasn't working. We should buy him new airpods. He lost his case two years ago? On a ride in Park City, somewhere on Seldom Seen it flew out of his pocket, sad. So since then, we've just kept his in a small case that used to hold airbuds and we use my case to charge both.

Car has issues, drove it to Millcreek Momentum, climbed with Corey at 3, and to Smiths tonight when I went to buy choc chips for Natalie (to make cookies for ballroom tomorrow) and candy for trick or treating. No 3 bags from Costco this year. Just got one with 160 pieces, I hope it's enough. $20 bucks of gas. Corey said to not to go Costco for food, we have maxed out that credit card and he hasn't made a payment yet. I haven't gone at all this month! I need potatoes. We need to pay the membership fee this month, so it wouldn't just be potatoes, since the fee makes it an automatic $150. Sigh

Ok, so I'm gong to type a bit real time (Oct 30) but I'm going to post this later, so that most people don't see it (esp Corey) cause I want to talk about our $ situation for the historical record, but I don't want it to effect Corey's dignity gland. Basically we're in the same situation, aka we are not in a good spot. I just found out people are invited to go over to Felix's tomorrow for Halloween pizza before trick or treating, Corey said we better mow the lawn. Ugh. That means he's not going to do it, but he'd like me to get the kids to. I wish we could have a yard service come do it, but I went and did what I could. It's like we're just barely hanging on with so many things. We need to fix the car windshields on both cars, the washer and dryer still do their Ub and 3C error codes constantly, there are a lot of parts on the house that are kinda barely making it. Though we did have a dishwasher miracle. It got broken/pulled out in May on Alvie's birthday, I think by someone standing on the door of it when it was open. We've been ok dealing with it, but then it started leaking on to the floor earlier this month. I didn't notice it dripping into the basement, so I was glad we caught it before that happened. No $ to get it repaired, so I washed by hand for 2 weeks and put things to dry on the dishwasher rack, until it I noticed it getting a super gross wet smell from kids closing it for it to "dry" in a place that was so humidity tight. So it smelled really bad. I decided to risk a 30 min cycle to rinse it, yay it didn't leak, tried a express 60 min clean next, still no leak, yay! So we've been using it again the past week, yay. And it's almost not pulled out anymore. That was a small miracle. The dishwasher has been healed.!

Oh, today I finished listening to all of President Oak's talks, all 101 of them! I started that on Sept 29,  after President Nelson passes away, I was going to try to finish the 99 of them before General Conference. Didn't do that, but kept at it and I'm proud that I finished the last one this morning. My takeaways - It was kinda sad to see them go from speaking in their strong and familiar "young" voice, and then to hear how much he's aged by the last one. President Oak's first talk was in Oct '71 when he was the President of BYU. That talk, Strive for Excellence, was EXCELLENT! Next was in Oct 1984 and then every conference after that. Really great messages. He speaks powerfully and with certainty in every message. The only one that I noticed him get choked up in was April 2000, and it happened to be when speaking of the death of loved ones. He choked up again for the second time this past Conference when talking about the passing of his father when Dallin was just a 7 year old boy. How that affected him! I'm sure his father has been helping him from beyond the veil over these many years, and how pleased he must be with the prophet of God that Dallin has become. I have started reading his book "In The Lord's Hands". Reading President Nelson's book really helped my testimony of him grow when he became our prophet and president, and I know it will be the same and I learn more about President Oaks. We are praying for him as he begins this new calling. He has dedicated his life to God, and is laying down his life for us. He has been for the past 41 years. I'm very grateful for the humble service our general authorities give in our behalf.
