Cute Abi and Katharine yesterday morning.
I love that they love each other. They got the start of a special bond like Wes and Peter have. I love that Katharine wants to sleep with Abi over me (sniff) and that Abi enjoys snuggling with her baby sister more than getting a good night of rest. I'm also constantly amazed that Katharine sleeps through Abi waking up for school. K sleeps right through Abi getting out from under K's head, moving blankets on the bed, turning on the light, and her and Lily talking as they get ready. Katharine just stays all snuggled up in Abi's soft blankets. Last night, K was literally shooing and pushing me away and closed the door for her and Abi to go to bed.
Yesterday I had to take carpool, but as I've mentioned, we are down a car (Corey's Honda Pilot needs a new transmission), so I texted people Monday night that Abi was just going to take the junior high kids on her way to Skyline, so they would need to leave at 7:10. That worked out good. I was able to wake up early and go to the temple (left at 4:20 for 5 am initiatories) I was back at 6, I got kids up and going, Abi left with the van, Corey was upstairs, I got ODP up and out the door, and K woke up super late - like after 10, so I took a short nap while I waited for her to wake up for breakfast.
Doesn't she just have the sweetest little "just woke up" face? I'm ok to share her at night cause I get to play with K all day. I went for a bike ride as soon as Lily got home which was lovely and super fun. I made it to the ruins, took techy on the way down.
And get this: I got 3 ACHIEVEMENTS! We never get achievements on our ride up the canyon cause we've done it so much that it's hard. But today I hit everything on techy and tied my PR time at 2:47! Woo! AND there was no one on the trail, so I was feeling confident and tried going fast, plus with the snow, it made all the chunky rocks just easy to glide over, and so I got a PR on the coalpit area, aka avalanche hill (
this is why we call it avalanche hill) at 1:41, Also 3rd place at 3:39 for Fastest section alive (pr was 3:32 on 11/6/23) It was fun! And beautiful. 45 degrees when I started, 40 when I was done, 11.15 miles, 1 hour 40 min. Sophi and Natalie went to Wayne's after school to do some work for him, Abi had her flute lesson, so I didn't have a car all day or after school, but I'm glad Lily got home and I was able to go on a ride.
I enjoyed my ride yesterday, but I really wanted to go to momentum after I got back, but Corey wasn't feeling it. And since I'd already gotten in some exercise I didn't feel like I should leave him, and he said wouldn't like it if I went without him, so when I did get have a car I was still stuck. He's been in his cave a bit and I asked him what was up, but he hasn't given me any details of what put him in a sour mood. Prob just the usual, which has been amplified by the car transmission situation... So I cleaned and tried to help the kids and I listened to Conference. Personally, I know I'm feeling stress about money (the dryer, transmission, broken sink disposal and freaking Christmas, which includes a trip to Florida this year, etc ugh). As I listened to conference, there was a quote by Elder Nelson in his
April 2014 talk that I liked: "God declared in the first of His Ten Commandments, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” He also said, “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” Yet so many people look only to their bank balance for peace or to fellow human beings for models to follow." Yes. I need to not have faith in my bank balance, or not seek for peace in that. I need to and CAN find peace in HIM, in Christ, no matter my bank balance. So I liked that. I kept listening to that while I made more dinner (this is still yesterday - Abi had already made dinner, then I made more, aka 2nd dinner) and cleaned the kitchen. A little after 8PM and the kids were finishing baths, and I put them to bed early. Corey been in his cave most of yesterday. I didn't want to press him about anything, like if he'd called Tanners for an update, so I figured I'd just do what I could and then tell him. So on my way taking Owen to trumpet today with Eliza's car (which they gave us the ok to use) I decided to call Burt Bros to see if they had anyone they recommended for transmissions, hoping that maybe we can go get it and take it somwhere else that will actually work on it. They said to call Mario at Freeway Transmissions. I called Mario, told him our story, he confirmed that we should be worried about the car being at Tanners. I reported my actions to Corey, he said that he had called Tanners again and they didn't have any news. Said "they" were looking at it and had the transmission out and were looking for parts, but wouldn't tell me what he thought the problem was. Jim said he would call, but he never has. Corey apologized for signing the paper work with Tanners too quickly and for not listening to me. "I blew it!" I said he didn't blow it, it wasn't his fault, we were vulnerable and I'm placing the blame on Tanners. They shouldn't be in business. We might go do some sneaking around tomorrow.
Oh, another pic of life tonight - the boys made a spy laser room or whatever in our bedroom, with Christmas lights and fluffy yarn stuff that Natalie got from a friend.
It was cute for whatever game they were playing. I didn't know they had done it until I came to my room and saw it all.
The thoroughness of it surprised me when I saw it. Katharine was surprised/impressed too. It was a little tricky getting to my bed, bathroom, and closet. I cut most of it down (cause they had already moved on and were playing something else somewhere else) and then they came and cleaned it up.
