Corey and I went out to eat at Aubergine tonight. We went earlier than usual and it was super busy so we sat outside. Then it felt too cold outside so Corey went in and asked for our food "to go" and we drove to Draper Park. That was even more cold! So then we went shivering back to the car and ate in there. I had Corey watch Sleepytime with me, and I teared up AGAIN. It made me cry when K and I watched it yesterday too. Everytime so far if I am sitting and paying attention, it makes me shed a tear. Little Bingo with her "I have to go now" cause she's gotta grow up and be a big girl... (sniff!) No! Stay little!
But the greatest of all God's creations might be His little Princes and Princesses.
When we got back from dinner we saw that Natalie had helped them play Prince and Princess and made them crowns. And they got down an art projector and were using it in the bathroom to make some really good art! Good job Peter, that looks legit, and it's ok that you got some help.
Yesterday, I decided to let Corey have a turn taking Lily to the DMV. Wednesday after she didn't pass, she scheduled it again right away. She did not, however, pass today either. But it's not her fault. This time it wasn't because she didn't have an appointment (Tuesday) or cause she didn't do enough head checks (Wednesday). This time on Thursday, it was because they took the van and it did not have registration stickers on it. I was positive I had registered it. They walked over to the car registration office and it took 15+ minutes, but they were able to verify that our van was indeed registered, so I guess someone stole off our stickers. Unfortunately, by the time they got that resolved, the time window for the road test had passed. SO Lily gets to make another appointment AGAIN. I told her today wasn't going to work because of carpool, plus they didn't have openings (and sure one might open up) but let's pause and not make a trip our there for the 4th day in the row. Let's call it good, we put forth a solid effort, and let's wait until next week. BUT next week we are gone camping, and then after we get back from that on Thursday, I'm going to be gone at the Hibbert Sisters' retreat, so you'll have to clear that with Corey or Abi's schedule. I already paid the fee and signed whatever on Wednesday, so I don't think she even needs a parent with her. Yeah, let's dump it on Abi for the next one. I'm glad I hadn't forgotten to register the van this past August!
Sourdough is what I do now. I can whip up two loaves like it's nothing, then I do it again and I have four, then I do it again and I've got six! Then I'm like "We have too much bread!" and I give it to neighbors. I'm perfecting the art. If I score it deep, it really expands well and gets a nice "ear".
I need to figure out bowls though... I need smaller bowls to let them cold proof in, or more banneton baskets. Perhaps I shall look on facebook marketplace... The kitchen is in a constant state of messy. I'll work on that soon. I'm glad to put bread on the table everyday. We have food. Today I watched a video of 3 reasons why your sourdough is flat - video. There are a lot of suggested sourdough videos in my feed right now. I also watched this video today on stretching (not sourdough stretch and folds) but for your body to fix your hips. I sent that one above to the kids and told them "you guys can start this now instead of when you're 50 if you want to be on top of it before it gets on top of you!" so now I'm kneeling on the floor as I blog here.
