Dad's Birthday

Today is my dad's 78th birthday.

Some of the Utah siblings and some of the Hibbert grandkids descended upon Hibbert Headquarters to sing him happy birthday and visit. We get together with the Wrides a lot at Wayne's house, and this was a rare opportunity to visit my parents in their home, so I obligated most of my kids to come. Abi Sophi and Joseph enjoying some food.

We siblings planned this a week ago. We decided that instead of taking them out to eat, we would just get as many of us as we could at their house without the expense of dinner or sharing a common area with other people. Jerusha didn't make it, cause today is her daughter Sophie's birthday and they were with her. Fun that Dad and Sophie share a birthday, just like my mom and Katharine! All the out-of-towners called in at different times. I called my dad last night to let him know the plan, we said between 6-8, narrowed that down today to 6:30 with Camilla calling at 6, since she's east coast time. Beka brought some charcuterie stuff, I got a video of the singing, and the relighting candle, haha.

We ended up with a good sized crowd!
There are a lot of little kids in the living room! I bet that their living room hasn't seen that much noise since the 80s.
Mel, Hyrum, Abi and Sophi visiting with cousin Mikey who is pretty much looking exactly like Wes behind Sophi here.
(Wes is coming home in less that two weeks! Yay!!!) I love Christmas time in my parents' home.
Daniel talked to Uncle Matt a majority of the time about 3D printed dragons.
Katharine thought my mom and dad's 80s bathroom was unreal. "A green potty!?!?" Yep! Straight outta the early 80s.
We asked my dad about his most memorable birthday or birthday gift. With his birthday so close to Christmas, most of his memories blend the two together and he wasn't sure what was birthday or Christmas. But he said he used to love getting models. He brought out a Millenium Falcon model that he still has, not from his childhood obviously. He liked those as an adult.

Melodie came up for my dad's birthday, and conveniently was able to deliver to us some wedding invitations, which are ready to go! We did some stuffing in envelopes and took the announcements to the post office for people that are not in the neighborhood.
More announcement sorting and I've got a stack that I am going to hand deliver to mailboxes in the next few days.
Good job Mel getting that all done with absolutely no help from me, except that I did pay for the stamps today. And I helped put those stamps on a few envelopes before we left the post office. Go me. Today I also got my 900th Strava activity after I went for a walk around the neighborhood. So "go me" again!
