Owen had his 4th grade program today. Owen let me know he was on the left, so I headed to that side when I arrived and took a pic of him.
This is one I get to go to every year. It is popular cause we have an amazing school community with super supportive parents, and cause it is a combined program with two grades - 4th and 5th. I am experience with I was here last year with Natalie, and the year before that with Sophi, and 2022 when Soph was in 4th, etc etc going back in time, and we'll be here next year when O is in 5th, and in 2027 when D is in 4th, and 2028 when D is in 5th!, and 2029 when Peter is in 4th, and 2030 when Peter is in 5th, etc etc into the future! It was a good program. I always enjoy the song with all the branches of the military, when people who served stand up when their song is sung. It's really powerful. Katharine was perfect and sat sweetly on my lap. It was just Katharine and I, so I was able to ask about a vacant seat I saw open and it was available, and I ended up sitting on the 3rd row! I was so close! (haha compared to other years!) Go me.
I knew this was a popular event, so I went early enough that I even got a parking stall. A parking spot AND a chair, life is good. They announced awards this year, but only for the 4th grade. The 5th graders were excused to go get their floats ready, so I'm not sure about when they announced the Young American Awards? I wonder if Owen will be interested in getting that next year. He got the Gold Grizzlie award this year. Good job, Owen!
I asked him what he had to do to earn that, he said "I don't know, I didn't even know I was getting it..." Hmm. Well, I know what the Young American requires, so we'll see on that next year. Also, usually they have the partition to the lunch room open, and this year it was shut, so there were a lot of people standing around by the side walls and back. Note to self, maybe even come earlier next year. This year I was there right 15 min before it started. Usually they don't let people back until 10 min before. But they did this year, so yeah, maybe come 20-25 min before it starts next year. K and I took a pic after the program. K holding her rice krispy treat (Two of those helped her stay quiet during the program).
