Picking Grapes

A neighbor called on Monday, letting me know they had lots of grapes left over in their garden. They'd used all they needed, so I could come get what I wanted. They've shared their harvest with us before. Just looking back on the blog... I thought I remembered picking them last year, but apparently it was two years ago. Man, time flies! So I took Corey to his dads today when we dropped off carpool, so that I could have his car to come to him and go climbing, and so since I had a car, Katharine and I went by for grapes today. K's first pull at the vines yielded in a handful of squished grapes.

I showed her where to grab the vine, not the grapes. Pull the vine carefully so they don't get broken.
"I did it!" She was a good worker.
I brought along our three big silver ikea bowls. After we filled the first bowl, Katharine decided she should be the protector of the grapes, and also sample them. I filled another bowl. K kept eating.
Soon we were done. No room for her in the wagon to ride back to the car, but that's ok, she was good to walk.
...except she kept telling me to stop cause she had to get another grape.
She and I had our fill, and the grapes were out on the counter for the rest of the day for the kids to snack on. I'm very grateful for wonderful neighbors who share their plentiful harvest with us.

After K and I were home, we worked on her school book -
We've been doing good at doing that everyday. I'm not as good at playing imagination games like Hyrum and Natalie do with her, but I can do the school book or read. I can also play kitchen. I enjoyed this because I was able to work and clean up her kitchen. Her stove and counters all really needed to be wiped off. I was a little confused at first when we were playing until I figured out that my name in this game was "Restaurant".
Sophi took that pic after she got home, and then I passed playing off to her siblings. Her and Peter went to play at Becca's house, and Katharine and her friend were twins!
Daniel home from school, showing off his cat's cradle skills. He can do witches broom too. His performance has been in high demand on the school bus.

Daniel is a good little student. He somehow got behind on some papers at school, and he stayed up late last night working on them, and almost got them all done...
He got up early this morning to finish. I was proud of him!

So the girls are at Young women's right now (Lily Sophi and Natalie are there) Abi is with friends making posters to ask to Monster Mash. I'm waiting for them to get home and then I'll go get Corey and we'll do a late night climbing session. Corey has had a good work day, getting a lot done. I took carpool today with Corey in shotgun,  and after dropping the kids off I took Corey to his dad's so I could have his car and go climbing with him. The original plan was to go at 3 right after Sophi got home (ALandN were all doing stuff after school, A Lyceum, L crochet club, N working for Wayne) but Corey ended up  needing to work more, so we went at 9:30 after the girls were back. I'm glad I had a moment to blog while I wait for the girls to get back. P&K are in the tub. So we did toprope last night, a ride together today from the Quarry trailhead to ruins and techy, and I've been doing stretching everyday. I'm trying to get two things in everday - one workout and some time stretching. I went for a morning walk yesterday, enjoying the almost full moon. It's good to make time to work and push hard and also make time to relax, rest and stretch.
