19 Days And Counting!

Corey teased his mother today "Well, I hope your happy. We're all on our way home." Yes, he was able to book tickets for himself and the rest of the boys.

19 DAYS AND COUNTING!

Then he teases pretending that I am the one with the travel bug and all these adventures are my idea. I insisted "I am 100% positive that I would not be here in Chile right now if it weren't for the fact that I'm married to you." He has doubts.

So Joe, the girls and I are leaving on May 3rd, flying from Santiago to Atlanta to Utah, arriving in Salt Lake on Wednesday May 4th. Corey leaved Chile on May 4th, Santiago to Panama to San Jose, then early morning on the 5th from San Jose to Dallas to Denver to Utah. He pretends he's excited as he brags that his group is more special cause: "We get to fly on FIVE planes! So there!"

Before we left Costa Rica, Corey called Continental 5 times to make sure that our return tickets were still good, all we'd have to pay was the exchange fee. Well, he started to panic yesterday when all of his careful planning seemed to be unravelling... He'd been checking airlines everyday for prices, but was waiting for some reimbursements from Start Up Chile, when the money was finally put in the prices had gone up. Doh! Then he called Continental to get things arranged, and the lady on the phone said he'd have to pay the exchange fee plus the difference in price of the flights, and the prices had gone way up, so it would have been $150 fee each, plus $600 difference in cost, and that was just from Costa Rica, he'd still have had to buy 4 tickets from Chile to Costa Rica. Seemed like those tickets were gonna be worthless. But he decided to wait and call again today and see what answer today's representative gave. He did, called again, and this guy said it was just the exchange fee, so Corey booked it and miraculously had funds to cover those tickets. Thank you Heavenly Father. If those tickets hadn't have been good, the cost for a one way ticket from Santiago to Utah would be $2000 each for the 4 remaining Wrides in need of passage. That might have broken the bank. Also, blessing: Continental and United just merged, and Corey flight changed airlines in Denver, so previously he would have had to pay two exchange fees but since they merged there was only one. :) Save another $600, whoop whoop!

But as Corey was starting to panic that he might get stuck in South America (he says he's always had a lingering fear) he started to get creative "Hey, flights are pretty cheap from Peru right now - maybe we'll take a bus ride to Peru and fly out from there!" When Corey's shopping for airfare, he doesn't commit to any particular departure or arrival city. He just looks for who's sporting a good deal and then starts working. But we are glad that the Costa Rica tickets we had on hold are good, so Corey and the remaining boys are set to leave Santiago the day after we leave, and arrive in Utah the day after us too. They get to go spend a night in Costa Rica, which Corey is looking forward too. Maybe they'll spend the night in the same hotel as their first night in Costa Rica back in September when this little chapter of our lives started. They're going back to the beginning! And then we all are going back to the other beginning in Granite. We're all excited to be back. yay!
