We are up in Park City. It was raining on the drive up here. This ski trip might be a bust. If it is, maybe I can go home tomorrow. I still feel sick. I was well enough to go to the dinner at the Bennett's tonight. I'm grateful that I did not cough up a storm while I was there, though the coughing hit me after we left and has been with me so far tonight. I'm hoping to sleep ok. The dinner was very nice. They prepared a delicious pasta bar with marinara sauce, sausage, and a vegan alfredo sauce that Christian has made for us before. It is amazingly delicious. Also salad and homemade bread (the Bennetts are amazing!) Our older kids visiting at the table.
Christian's siblings and their spouses ate at tables in their living area. We did more mixing and mingling after the meal. The little kid table -

So after we ate, we did this little activity where we each shared an item and then said why that item reminds us of Mel or Christian. For mine, I brought a piece of glass from a photo frame and then I shared
photos from this post and told them how Mel might be a little reserved as shy in public, but when you really get to know her, she is just funny and goofy. I also provided further evidence of this fact by sharing pics of her
Anton Ego impression,
her hand puppets, and also with the
creepy faces she made out of white clay and stuck on the closet drawers or bed frame posts). Christian got a good laugh from those clay faces. Wesley shared
photos 5 and 6 from this post, how Mel is so creative and helps with any project you might have. Sophi shared her memory that once time Mel didn't like her because she was ugly, as evidenced by this photo taken the day after
we arrived in Brazil in 2015 (pic 6). Aww little Sophi, you aren't ugly, that was just after a rough day for all of us. Though to be true, it does look like it had been a little rougher on you. Mel also wanted to correct the record - it's not that she was ugly, Mel was just a little scared of her. Then the funniest/most shocking share of all from the Wride side, was Ethan's presentation. He brought out a pillow with what looked like a wet piece of poop on it.

Corey and I were a bit horrified at this but didn't send him home or anything. We waited for him to explain. Melodie was laughing with fear. Ethan said that one time when he was a teen, he came to his pillow to find what looked like a wet piece of poop on it. He asked himself "Did Melodie literally poop on my pillow!?!?!" They were usually going at each other, thus she was the primary suspect, and his suspicions were correct. Melodie did in fact find something on Pinterest that taught her how to make fake poop using the inside brown paper roll from toilet paper, and she tested it out on Ethan. (I just found a
YouTube tutorial here). The fakeness of it was discovered by the lack of smell, but the insult had been given, and Ethan took revenge by pumping soap all over her pillow. So Ethan gifted them some liquid soap. So, that was hilarious. I'm sorry I can't remember ones Christian's siblings shared. I'll see if Mel and Christian remember and can text them to me. Anyway, after that fun, we had brownies and ice cream, and we all visited more.

The marrieds talked about babies and school. Amie and I talked wedding stuff. She showed me the cute centerpieces she has, and I had seen pics of them from Mel, but I did not realize that Amie MADE THEM! She likes woodworking! She owns an electric saw and a staple gun! She made the cute wood centerpieces and the flower arrangements and just wow, I'm so impressed. And their basement play area was so cute, Katharine was in Kid heaven in their play loft castle with slide and their dress ups.
Hopefully we'll all get together again, cause it was really fun. Now we're up at Park City. Arrived in our room at 10pm.
The big kids were great helpers getting all the bins of ski gear from the car - skiis, poles, boots, snowpants, coats, mittens, goggles, hats, ugh so much work. Abi is taking care of meals up here, yay. The kids already ate tonight though, so we said it was bedtime. We'll see if we get to play tomorrow.
Oh, and church today - for the New Primary year they made these cute cut outs of each of the primary children and had them in the hallway by the Primary room. I laughed at Katharine's outfit - her Belle pajamas, and she is wearing navy flower leggings underneath. Yes, we let her dress herself most Sundays.
Peter wears this outfit most every Sunday.
Daniel, nice vest.
And Owen is the oldest kid in Primary!
And today Daniel had something stuffed in his shirt. I noticed him holding his belly as we got out of the car, but I didn't notice the bulge beneath his shirt. Hyrum did. I was sitting in the foyer, cause I'm sick and only came for the sacrament (Corey stayed home with Katharine) and then Hyrum and Daniel came out for Daniel could confess his actions. He snuck in this crazy black wig to church so he could take it to class.
Thank you Hyrum for catching this culprit. Walking back in...
Daniel, don't bring play stuff to church, you goof! Katharine was wearing the wig last night, I know one of the kids got a pic, I'll try to find that and put it in later. I have no idea where that wig came from though. The kids said they just found it in the basement. If anyone is missing a black afro wig, let me know.
