Ethan's Got Hives
Yesterday Ethan had an allergic reaction to something... I think it might be the papaya from the fruit smoothie I made for breakfast. It's either that or milk cause he also had two bowls of cereal, but he always eats cereal, so I'm not sure? He had a reaction once to a bottle of formula when he was 6 months old, but has been fine since then, so it wouldn't just show up again when he's 8, right? Hmm, we're keeping track of his diet to try and find the cause of this, since hives is treated by identifying and removing the trigger.
In the meantime, we've been told the best thing to do while we wait this out is to:
1) Apply cool compresses or wet cloths to the affected areas.
2) Try to work and sleep in a cool room.
3) Wear loose-fitting lightweight clothes.
So for #1 - here we were last night with the wet cloths (and he hadn't eaten his dinner, so I'm feeding him his rice and beans)
2 - I made sure his room was nice and cool for him with his ac on all night and the ceiling fan.
3 - and he was instructed to remove his undies and is just wearing some soccer shorts for a while. He did great last night and has looked better today on his torso, but his eyes are a little swollen like he just got out of bed. Hang in there Ethan!
